Structure and User Interface of Placeworld
Abstract

In this chapter we wish to focus on the development of the user interface for Placeworld and the concepts underpinning the metaphors and interfaces realised within the demonstrator. Placeworld is an interactive virtual environment for multiple users. It consists of a surrounding space that is populated by different cylinders (places) connected by paths. Each cylinder establishes an individual space and individual interaction strategies. Additional to the initial cylinder population of Placeworld, visitors can create new cylinders and thus construct and modify the system.
